After graduating Law and Criminology from Sheffield University at the height of the recession it would be a lie if I said that securing a role on a graduate training plan for a large multi-national recruiter based in London was anything other than a massive relief(!!). My formative years in the industry were spent in a challenging and highly competitive market, placing finance professionals across London and during that time I realised I’d caught the bug for a professional a few years previously, admittedly I’d fallen in to.
Realising that London wasn’t going to be my forever home (house prices!) I moved back locally and have spent the last 5 years working in several different positions within the Accountancy and Finance team at The ONE Group. In that time, I’ve developed a strong grasp of the workings of a finance team, from the bottom up, and a great network across the local market of candidates and clients alike.
Recruitment is an industry that’s often over-complicated and synonymous with recruiters being a “necessary evil” of finding the next job. I’d like to think that my honest and open style has helped me to thrive and build a reputation based upon a value-added service with a healthy dose of sense of humour thrown in. I love getting under the skin of both the businesses I recruit for and candidates I work with and knowing both intrinsically has produced the best results.
I have two passions outside of work which are in a constant battle with each other; food and fitness. Seasonality often determines which one comes out on top.
