Job adverts will often describe roles as "exciting" or "unique", but how often is that really the case? We could probably answer that one for you - and it's not very often.

And yet, like a real breath of fresh air, The ONE Group is pleased to be partnering with a global publishing giant to help recruit for a role which is nothing short of both of those things. We're on the lookout for a Finance Business Partner to join the organisation's Commercial Finance Team, reporting directly to the newly appointed Finance Director, who brings a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm and industry experience with them.

This role will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, providing key information to assist with decision making, as well as acting as a finance-to-non-finance translator when it comes to partnering with Marketing, Production and other teams across the business.

To offer an overview, you'll be heavily involved in:

  • Decision Making Support: Work with Management and directly with teams to ensure full understanding of financial performance, advising on financial performance of competitors and general market trends, and outlining the financial and statutory impact of strategic and operational options being considered to support recommendations in decision making processes.

  • Financial Management: Providing all-round accounting support by effectively monitoring, interpreting and challenging financial results, and communicating risks, opportunities and trends to the management team on a timely basis, including helping to manage spend and ensure that mark-ups are accurate. Also reviewing monthly management accounts and managing supplier payments, the recruitment process and the salary review process.

  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Working closely with both the MD and CFO, inputting, reviewing and refining financial reporting information to deliver timely ambitious budgets and forecasts with associated insight and commentary, and updating rolling forecasts where necessary.

With stakeholder management a vital aspect of the role, excellent communication and relationship building skills are essential to the success of the Finance Business Partner. You'll ideally be someone who has worked at a senior level within a commercial environment previously and you'll be comfortable working to tight deadlines.

If you've used Hyperion previously, that would be great, but more than anything we're really looking for someone who has had extensive exposure to subscriptions (in any finance capacity!) - so if that's you, we're extra keen to speak with you!
