The ONE Group have partnered up with a local organisation with strong local government connections, to support them with their appointment of a new Financial Controller. This is a truly transformational role that requires the post holder to have excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, ideally gained from experience in the public or not for profit sector.

You will become a part of the Senior Leadership Team and be a voice and champion financial governance and controls for the organisation that will ultimately drive the organisation forward, impacting multiple third parties and the wide local community.

Being a qualified, and experienced finance professional, you will be an effective manager, able to take responsibility of the entire finance function, including annual budgets; and articulate its status and developments to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with other members of the SLT to ensure the organisation are able to plan, budget and respond to the needs of local businesses and community.
  • Develop strategic partnerships both regionally and nationally to represent the organisation at both local and national events and meetings.
  • Source and capitalise on funding and income opportunities, and where appropriate, lead funding bids in the local area.
  • Be a visible member of the SLT, inspiring other junior leaders and teams to do well in their own personal performance.
  • Work collaboratively with other Senior Leaders to provide comprehensive evidence of performance and devise and implement improvement plans.
  • Lead and manage the finance team, implementing KPIs where appropriate to ensure effective performance management.
  • Set and monitor progress towards strategic financial targets, ensuring funder and investor objectives are met.
  • Be the lead for both internal and external audits.
  • Preparation of annual budgets and presenting them to the local governing body for approval.
  • Provide finance expertise to Senior Management to help support and influence strategic decisions.
