The Role:

  • Design of precision opto-mechanical assemblies and modules
  • Integration of custom photonic devices into opto-mechanical assemblies
  • Physical housing and packaging design for electronic circuit assemblies
  • Supporting NPI

Essential:

  • Relevant engineering / physics qualification
  • Experience with vacuum- and cryogen-compatible mechanical design
  • Knowledge of thermal design and analysis for optical/electronic systems

Useful:

  • Industry and/or PostDoc research experience developing precision opto-mechanical assemblies and modules
  • Experience with optical fibre-to-chip interconnects
  • Hands-on experience with 4 K cryostat systems
  • 3D printing
  • Solidworks
