Principal Purpose

Reporting directly to the UK Warehouse & Distribution Manager the Site Logistics lead will be responsible for overseeing day to day operations within the warehouse and distribution facility, by ensuring the existing operational capability is maintained.

Longer term the role will require assessment of the current team and be a major instigator in the development of function systems and control. The person will be an integral part in the drive to ensure the business delivers on new projects and is ready to support sales with continued growth.

Functional Responsibility

The role is directly responsible for all site logistic operations including 3PL management.

Principal Elements

  • Develop short- and long-term plans to increase the efficiency and optimisation of warehousing functions and inventory.
  • Maintain and manage the day to day relationship with the 3PL ensuring all distribution requirements are met.
  • Monitor performance levels and costs for 3PL
  • Ensure efficient and effective use of warehouse space to include layout and future capacity requirements.
  • Ensure Health and Safety is at the forefront of all operations.
  • Communicate customer issues with operations team and devise ways of improving the customer experience, including resolving problems and complaints.
  • Plan and manage the distribution of goods, being responsible for providing an OTIF delivery service.
  • Attend and report at regular Management Meetings giving current state along with updates regarding operational changes and new project initiatives.
  • Lead and motivate the team by communicating goals and initiatives, conduct performance reviews and staff progression.



Job Context / Key Challenges

Development

  • Liaise and negotiate with logistics provider and drive time/cost efficiency where possible.
  • Focus on understanding COF and implementing processes to eliminate reoccurrence.
  • Maintain metrics and analyse data to assess performance and implement improvements across functional areas.
  • Working with Supply Chain to develop a site capacity model ensuring that stockholding is both in line with business need and supply requirement.
  • A key member of the site leadership team & wider operations team - influencing the broader site agenda and ensuring consistency of approach & best practice development.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity are maintained.
  • Effective stock control working with materials planning and procurement to deliver optimum inventory levels, and constantly challenging working capital requirements by minimising inventory holding.
  • Project lead for 3PL RFQ



Knowledge and Experience (Knowledge and experience needed for satisfactory performance of the job)

Experience/Attributes/Education

  • Understanding of best practice processes in a warehouse environment and experienced in successfully implementing and embedding them.
  • Proven track record of managing operational change and delivering operational efficiency
  • You display strong leadership skills and embrace change.
  • You possess the ability to organise details, establish and carry out root cause analysis, and then extract and analyse the data you generate, Ability to work under pressure.
  • You possess a grasp of Kaizen and Lean methodologies and related techniques.
