I am working with a four-year-old start-up, who are striving towards clean air travel, using hydrogen power. They are looking to launch their first aircraft in 2024 and look to release large commercial style aircraft by 2040. They have some incredible backing and funding by energy funds owned by Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos.


The company is a leader in zero-emissions aviation who fly the worlds largest hydrogen-electric aircraft size 2020, with this in mind they are seeking top quality individuals to work for them and get involved in some of the coolest technology about.


The companies powertrain focuses on integrating hydrogen storage tanks, fuel cell systems and electric motors to deliver solutions to develop zero emissions technologies.


They are seeking an Electric Motor Controls Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis.


The day-to-day duties include:

  • Motor control and monitoring algorithms and models as well as creating multi design optimisation algorithms for systems
  • Create and implement HIL test bench using a simulator for power electronics, interfaces, and sensors
  • Integrate and debug motion control models including the likes of inverters, fuel cells and motors and cooling systems
  • Responsible for creating test plans, procedures, and reports by following standards for hardware and software validation
  • Dyno set up, back-to-back test rig and support Ironbird control testing


What we are looking for:

  • Electrical Engineering degree with experience in motor control, software, HIL and SIL, dyno, qualification, integration, and calibration
  • Excellent knowledge of motor modelling, design and verification: Electromagnetic, thermal and electrical modelisation
  • Power electronics inverter/converter and Electrical systems
  • HIL design and verification as well as experienced in Matlab coding, Simulink, Target link and Embedded code environment
  • The ability to troubleshoot test benches
