Head of Human Resources (12-Month FTC, Potential to Go Permanent)
Further Education | South East Essex | £50,000 - £55,000

Are you an experienced HR professional ready to step into a pivotal leadership role during a period of real change and opportunity? A leading further education organisation in South East Essex is looking for a dynamic Head of HR to join their team on a 12-month fixed-term contract with a chance this could convert into a permanent position.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of the HR function, working closely with a new HR Director who has a clear vision for transformation.

The Role

This is a very hands-on operational role where you'll balance operational delivery with leadership, ensuring HR is seen as a supportive, trusted and forward-thinking partner. You will:

  • Lead day-to-day HR operations, acting as deputy to the HR Director.
  • Manage and motivate a team across HR, Talent Acquisition and L&D.
  • Provide expert guidance on ER casework.
  • Support with policy reviews and implementation.
  • Oversee small-scale TUPE processes.
  • Drive a restructure to ensure the HR function is fit for purpose.

About You

We are looking for someone who is not only technically strong but also motivational, approachable and fair. You will need to bring:

  • A solid background in HR leadership within Further Education (essential).
  • Strong ER and case management expertise.
  • Experience of TUPE (desirable).
  • The ability to inspire confidence across the organisation, building trust with staff and leaders alike.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the resilience to lead through change.
