A senior position has become available for a Process Development Manager to join a very lovely, Cambridge based team who are doing incredible things which combine electronics and organic materials.

The process development group are responsible for developing and optimising the fabrication process, utilising the company's world-class portfolio of organic electronics materials in their prototyping facility here in Cambridge. We are looking for somebody who will have the skills to provide leadership for the process development team and enable a seamless transition of optimised process to manufacturing partners. Not only that, but you will work hands-on alongside (as well as managing) engineers and other technical managers.

The Role:

  • Lead the Process Development team, including recruitment, development, training matrix and performance management
  • Meet project timescales
  • Lead contributions on tech transfer engagements and manage ongoing activities to make processes more transferrable, whilst tackling obstacles with manufacturing partners
  • Work in partnership with the materials development technical transfer and Fab teams
  • Champion the fabrication processes for components and take the lead on introducing improvements and advising on control measures
  • Contribute to the technical vision of the company by advising on the direction of active customer engagements, new customer enquiries, and identifying new areas of application for the technology
  • Advise on ways to increase the overall value of IP, whilst encouraging the team to document and submit innovative ideas for review - also support patenting process if needed

About You:

  • Ideally a degree, though equivalent experience is fine
  • Strong, broad technical background ideally in electronics or fabrication is preferred
  • Experience managing complex technical projects involving large global customers / partners
  • Team leading experience with a keen focus on personal and professional development
  • Confident with MS Office and fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach tasks in a structured manner and the tenacity to resolve on-going technical issues
  • Superb communication skills on all levels of the organisation with a knack for encouraging positive relationships
  • Naturally accountable, responsible and self-motivated
