Ever thought you could do things better if only you had set up the buying department? Well now here is your chance to do exactly that. Currently, my client, who pays 23% pension, has about 50 department heads doing the buying all independently and it's time to centralise this function and bring you in to oversee all the buying across the company! Do it your way and take control of all purchasing decisions across the business as well as collecting 23% pension!

You will spend time with the various businesses in the group to understand their needs from catering to stationary along with services and utilities you will put your systems in place, negotiate new contracts, test out new suppliers and use your buying power to reduce costs and streamline the process.

This is a dream job for an experienced buyer who has been itching for a new challenge and wants to take on an exciting project along with wanting 23% pension! This role will play a vital part in the development and growth of the business over the coming years as there is a lot planned and the work they do across the county is so very valuable to a large number of people.

The role in a, Christmas, nutshell is to manage the group's procurement function, improve controls and deliver efficiencies, simple right? You will be welcomed into the team and working with a very supportive bunch who feel this role is going to be vital to the success of the future growth plans and are excited to have you on board.

Day to day you will be:

The go to person and the central point for all company purchasing

  • Streamline the current purchasing
  • Set up processes
  • Raise PO Numbers
  • Monitor spend
  • Keep within budget
  • Set up an approved supplier list
  • Negotiate terms of business
  • Setting pricing and payment terms
  • Cost analysis of current suppliers versus new vendors
  • Work with stakeholders to advise of the best processes
  • Review supplier lists
  • Contribute to Equality and Diversity duty
  • Undertake other procurement duties in line with the Financial Controller requests.
  • Collect 23% pension!

To be considered you will have experience of the above, be a quick thinker who is also considered and enjoys processes. There will be challenges to overcome to start with but once you have rolled out your new way of working you will be helping and supporting the teams to get the best possible outcome for their budget and their needs.
