The Process team of this company based in Cambridge is growing really quickly. In fact, they have plans in the future to move to brand new cleanroom facilities (still in the Cambridge area)!

One of the positions we are helping them fill is a Test Development Engineer. This is an important role which will involve the handling, integration, design, and test of optoelectronic materials & devices. You'll be working to their high standards and making sure any defects are identified and rectified in real time.

Your role will also be to provide engineering and testing support to the wafer fab, concentrating on developing, maintaining and optimising testing capability within the electrochemical wet chemical processes and optoelectronic products and components. This will also include coming up with and carrying out continuous improvement projects to improve the fab's KPIs, as well as supporting new platform and product process development.

The Role:

  • Effective running of testing processes and protocols in both lab and cleanroom
  • Assisting with electrical and optical characterisation of materials and products
  • Liaising with the process and product team on continuous improvement
  • Ensuring records are documented thoroughly

About You:

  • Degree in Physics, materials science, electrical engineering, chemical engineering or a similar discipline, OR two years' semiconductor test or process engineering experience
  • Experience working in a lab or manufacturing environment
  • Superb attention-to-detail
  • Experience with the handling and disposal of chemicals
  • Data analysis & programming skills: Tableau, JMP, Excel macro, Python, C, Matlab, Arduino sketches, SQL, HTML

What else would be useful?

  • Cleanroom experience
  • Experience with optical microscopy, electroluminescence, and photoluminescence spectroscopy and testing
  • Any knowledge of wide-bandgap semiconductor materials and characterisation, processing technologies
  • Experience with materials characterisation using optical microscopy, EL, PL, XRD, SEM, AFM etc.
