We're collaborating with a giant in cyber security to recruit an Automation Security Engineer for their team. Situated slap bang in the heart of Cambridge's tech cluster, just a few minutes' walk from Cambridge North station, this company are offering an amazing package for the right individual.

They're looking to build an ICS lab on site; a testlab which allows them to simulate all sorts of environments using PLCs and networks in a 'real' environment. This will enable them to develop AI solutions to critical cyber security challenges faced by organisations operating Industrial Control Systems (ICS). The lab will help them to gain an in depth understanding of how a control system network functions and be able to highlight unusual activities and vulnerabilities to a security team.

Think: industrial or manufacturing systems incorporating devices such as sensors, valves, pumps, motors and a human-machine interface - the sorts of things you'd expect to see in a power station; you'll be working to protect against cyber threats getting into crucial national systems.

So, where do YOU come in?

Working closely with the R&D software teams, you will play a key part in creating a wide range of possible automation network activities on a small scale. Running the lab will involve rapid change and additions to equipment, software, programming and network protocols.

We need someone experienced to help. You will already have an understanding of SCADA and know how to create varied control systems and have some C++ or other software development experience so that you are able to analyse the networks you create.

You will need to be bright and have a good degree (2:1 or above) from an excellent university. You'll need to be skilled in at least one software programming language.

What else would be useful?

  • Software/hardware experience with varied control system vendors e.g. ABB, Honeywell, Yokogawa, Emerson, Mitsubishi, GE
  • C++ or C expertise
  • Networking and network protocol domain knowledge
  • Linux software development environment
  • Scripting languages e.g. bash, python

There's a decent salary on offer and health cover for you and your family. You're also getting the opportunity to contribute to the enormous success of an award-winning, world-leader in AI for cyber security.
