Serving customers globally, including seven of the key players within the sector, I am privileged to be working in partnership with this company in their search for a Digital Baseband Hardware Engineer.

This is an exciting time to join the business as they embark on their development of next generation products.

I am looking for an experienced Digital Hardware Engineer to architect and design the Baseband hardware platforms supporting low-cost UE and high performance gNB solutions.

On a day to day basis you will be responsible for:

  • Baseband digital architecture definition and documentation
  • Component selection and supplier liaison and management
  • Digital PCB design schematic capture, layout design and review using Altium
  • Baseband thermal management
  • Liaising with the HW Test Team to ensure best in class test automated coverage
  • Liaising with contract electronics manufacturer, PCB fabricator and Assembly houses
  • BOM and product cost management
  • Signal integrity, thermal and timing analysis
  • HW bring up and performance evaluation
  • Supporting embedded SW integration
  • DFM and DFT strategy

What do we need from you?

  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with high pin count flip chip and BGA packaging
  • Experience with clock tree architectures and ideally IEEE 1588 PTP experience
  • Experience with clock and timing devices, e.g. crystal resonators, VC-TCXOs, crystal oscillators and clock distribution ICs
  • Experience with developing power budgets and power electronics design
  • Experience with voltage regulators, LDO, switch mode power supplies (SMPS)
  • Experience in signal integrity and power integrity simulation
  • Experience with thermal management in PCB design
  • Experience with high-speed and low-speed digital interfaces, e.g. PCIe, I2C, UART, JTAG, etc.
  • Experience in bench-level design verification with high-speed oscilloscopes preferred.
  • Experience with network analysers, spectrum analysers, phase noise analysers is useful
  • Experience with DFM techniques
  • Knowledge of ADCs/DACs
  • Experience with JTAG test methods
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and adapt quickly to the very dynamic context of a startup
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills
  • Working knowledge of the Linux operating system
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in digital electronics, or related field
  • A "can do", helpful and collaborative attitude
  • Position may require some international travel
  • Experience with python for electronics test and automation is an advantage
  • Experience with RF, analogue design an advantage
  • Experience with clock and phase jitter is an advantage
