This enormously successful organisation has been around since the early '80s and have a dominant global presence in their industry. They're big enough to have won multiple international awards, but still humble enough to be able to offer their team a close knit 'family feel'! Based just outside Cambridge in a village location, there's plenty of free parking and easy access by road and rail.

Their markets range across security, aerospace, military and industrial, with some extremely interesting, hi-tech products. Due to some rapid growth, they are now expanding their R&D team and have an opening for an Embedded Systems Engineer.

The person we are looking for will be able to demonstrate successful results on various embedded systems and will enjoy working on a range of technology areas. The work will include writing firmware for a small embedded PIC32 microcontroller, so experience with that or a similar platform (e.g. Arm Cortex-M, Arm Cortex-R) would be useful. You will need to have an appreciation of low power, low memory footprint of software and an understanding of communications interfaces such as I2C, UART and/or SPI. You should also know how to use basic lab equipment to diagnose and test systems. Excellent attention to detail and a quality driven approach is essential.

About You:

  • Excellent academic credentials
  • 5+ Years' experience developing in an embedded environment
  • Demonstrable successful achievements on a variety of embedded projects
  • Experience with embedded Linux systems would be useful
  • Experience in C/C++ and with building custom Linux kernels and board support packages (BSPs) for hardware platforms based on e.g. Xilinx Zynq, Freescale i.MX would be very helpful
  • We would be interested to see details of your personal projects or a public GitHub account (or similar)!

There's a great salary and impressive benefits on offer. The team are a super-friendly bunch and it's an incredibly interesting and secure industry to work in; they've just grown and grown, despite the pandemic!
