As medical device consultancies go, they don't get much better than these guys. With 35 years' experience 'bossing' award-winning designs for huge pharmacos right through to small start-ups (and everything in between), they manage the whole process from concept through to industrialisation.

Unlike some other consultancies, everything these people do is medical focused. And they boast impressive labs, workshops and collaborative spaces based in a pretty, rural Cambridgeshire village. A company of over 100 diverse individuals, there's a strong emphasis on work-life balance and fun, as well as opportunities to grow and develop in a supportive environment, where you have the opportunity to work in a sector that truly changes and saves lives. The people who work there speak very highly of their company and colleagues; it's genuinely a lovely place to work.

The Medical Devices Technical Project Assistant will be able to demonstrate experience (ideally) in a medical/life-science focused role, such as; analyst, insight research or a technical role, and be able to carry out (but not necessarily be experienced in) activities such as:

  • Tech Landscaping/Scouting - map and assess enabling technologies and devices. Help define requirements, profile and assess technologies and come up with ideas and recommendations for technologies to meet clients' needs.
  • Competitor/commercial analysis - research into the commercial and competitor landscape e.g., competitor profiling, pipeline research and identifying commercial licensing and acquisition opportunities.
  • Market insights research - Identify, profile and engage Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs). Co- ordinate and get involved with exploratory research with KOLs, interviewing patients, health care professionals, etc, utilising a range of F2F and remote research tools.
  • Analysis, reporting and exploring and assessing new research tools.
  • Co-ordinating projects - client liaison, supplier management, budgets, project logistics and admin - keeping a close eye on internal processes and industry guidelines, regulations and directives.
  • Business development support - supporting activities through contributions to marketing, proposals, project costing and planning.
  • Workshop support - plan, prepare and facilitate remote and F2F workshops.

You're unlikely to have experience in all the above areas, but that's OK. If you're ticking some of the boxes and are confident that with coaching, you'll be able to develop skills across the board, then we would like to talk to you. This is certainly an interesting and varied role, which will give you exposure to working on ground-breaking projects and learn from a team of innovation experts in their field.

You can expect frequent travel both within the UK and overseas. People tend to work together on their Cambridgeshire site, but there is scope for some working from home, too. We are looking for someone who is able to be flexible as the need dictates.

About You:

  • Good degree in a relevant technical subject with some understanding of electro/mechanical principles
  • Previous experience in an Analyst, Insight Research or technical role, ideally medical/life-science focused
  • Experience and knowledge of the medical devices industry is preferred, but not essential
  • All round excellent communicator, including the ability to interface effectively with clients
  • Project co-ordination experience/ability
  • Open minded and able to see the 'bigger picture'
  • Tremendously hard-working and motivated to build a broad knowledge and skill set
  • Collaborative and effective within a team, including knowledge sharing
  • Adaptable
  • Willing to take responsibility for own tasks but equally able to ask for help
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Resourceful and methodical
  • Incredibly well-organised

Opportunities like this one don't come around too often. I'm very passionate about this company and their values and would love to tell you more about them, so get in touch!
