Since 2022, The ONE Group have been instrumental in supporting them in expanding their R&D team and we couldn't have wished to collaborate with a more friendly team of people.

To enable further growth, we're looking for a New Product Development Engineer (Prototype Development) to 'sit between' the engineering and the chemistry / cell teams; to help scale up technology from research and drive improvements in the current prototype system, such as module geometry, current collectors and sizing, etc.

Ideally, you should have worked on battery or fuel cell pilot lines, or prototypes. We could also consider someone who has optimised machines or systems for real world applications.

An engineering / process development skill set is essential, coupled with a demonstratable ability to understand the chemistry and technology involved.

You will be supported in your continuous development and encouraged to take a senior position within the company!

The Role:

  • Provide development expertise within the x-disciplinary R&D team, dovetailing with Polymer Scientists and Electrochemists
  • Be part of the interface between R&D and Prototype Development teams
  • Lead projects focused on improving the energy storage technology
  • Lead validation, its scale-up and implementation
  • Identify development opportunities and creative solutions for improvement
  • Support development by generating new prototype concepts and carrying out experiments
  • Identify long term manufacturing strategies around potential future commercial applications and products

To apply, you will need….

  • A relevant degree or Master's
  • At least 4 years' experience in a suitable R&D environment
  • Demonstratable hands-on engineering and an understanding of chemical systems and processes
  • Experience of process development and optimisation, within pilot line manufacturing
  • Experience scaling up technology and increasing TRL
  • Project management knowledge
  • The desire to grow professionally and technically within a start-up environment

What else would get you an interview?

  • Any experience with batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells, electrolysers or other energy storage and conversion technologies
