NPI Engineer

I'm working with an established but growing technology business just outside Cambridge who are looking for an experienced NPI Engineer to join their team. It's a varied, hands-on role where you'll take ownership of the full NPI process - from early concept through to volume manufacture.

You'll work across projects for electro-mechanical products, managing prototype builds, refining production processes, and ensuring new products are introduced smoothly with contract manufacturers and internal teams.

What you'll be doing:

Leading NPI activities across mechanical, electronic and assembly processes
Supporting design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) from the start
Managing builds, troubleshooting issues, and working with contract manufacturers to scale up
Driving improvements in yield, quality, and cost
Making sure the wider business (including service, customisation, stores) is ready for launch

What you'll bring:

Proven experience in NPI / manufacturing / process engineering across electro-mechanical product manufacturing
Practiced in working on projects with specific timeframes
Strong understanding of electro-mechanical assembly (inc. SMT) and working with electronics factories
Comfortable working closely with contract manufacturers
Hands-on, structured, and commercially aware
Familiar with PLM systems (Agile ideally), DFM, and data analysis

There is some UK and overseas travel involved (expenses covered), so a full UK driving licence is needed.
