This unique role for a Research Associate will combine your strong technical research experience with grant writing.

Based in facilities belonging to Cambridge University and also with some travel to research facilities in Pisa, Italy, you will have a lead role in the technical development of this ground-breaking work, which is bringing Graphene and Photonics together to enable the 5G and 6G networks of the future.

This is an important role, pursuing the R&D mission of the company through collaborative work. It is expected that you will take a larger role in the company as it develops. This will require dedication and an awareness of deadlines.

  • Generate new and innovative solutions to challenges and implement these within the fabrication facility in Pisa
  • Submit grant funding applications, ensuring that costs are properly estimated and recorded, also taking responsibility for generating technical reports and cost reports
  • Being visible to funding organisations, customers and collaborators as a key player in the company
  • Participate in developing the IP portfolio for the company

About You:

  • PhD in Electronics / Photonics / Semiconductors / Quantum or 2D materials
  • Some experience of grant writing in one of the above
  • Evidence of successful post-doctoral work, grant applications, working with partner organisations and technical reporting
  • Evidence of publishing papers or patent preparations
  • Excellent spoken and written English is essential. Competence in Italian will be beneficial
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Must have the right to live and work in the UK
