We're on the lookout for a Prototype Development Engineer. This is likely to be a Chemical or Mechanical Engineer who wants to develop their career within a small (but growing!) R&D team, scaling up technology and bringing their engineering strengths to the team.

The Role:

  • Working alongside a x-disciplinary team of Polymer and Electrochemistry Scientists, share your development expertise and support the development of new energy storage products
  • Lead the testing of new system prototypes and providing data analysis
  • Design and create experiments to improve products, such as trialling new materials, form factors or concept designs
  • Develop a pilot line manufacturing process for new prototypes and test for repeat-ability
  • Be part of the scale-up process, utilising new processes or materials from research and testing them in larger cell formats, analysing performance and feeding back into the research team

Must Haves:

  • Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • 4+ years' experience in a relevant 'real world' R&D environment
  • Demonstrable hands-on engineering skillset, with a superb understanding of chemical systems and manufacturing processes
  • Start-up mentality
  • Experience with batteries, supercapacitors or similar is preferred
  • Understanding or experience with polymers
  • Experience working with electronic systems, such as sensors, testing equipment or chemical process development


The Package:

  • Dependant on your level, a Senior Engineer could attract up to around £60k. Those with less experience would be £45k+
